First, you will meet with our expert licensed permanent makeup artist and discuss your wants and needs in regards to shape, style and color of your brows or lips. Your artist will thoroughly and delicately map our your brows or lips using precise measurements for symmetry. Your artist will then discuss color theory and determine how pigment colors interact with the undertones of our skin to pick the perfect shade of color for your permanent makeup. This process of mapping and color choosing takes about 2-3 hours
Next, your artist will cleanse and disinfect your skin and use topical numbing medication to ensure a comfortable procedure before using the tattoo machine to place the pigment exactly where it needs to be on your face. This process takes about 45 minutes to one hour
After, your artist will discuss your after care procedures and when to schedule a follow up/ touch up appointment if needed.
You may have heard of microblading as another form of permanent makeup for your brows. At Island Aesthetics and wellness we prefer to use the Powder Brow method for brows rather than microblading for many reasons
1. Microblading is more invasive as the technician is cutting into the skin which causes more injury than a tattoo machine and will cause eventual permanent scaring
2. Powder brows tend to last much longer than microblading- about 1-3 years longer.
3. Powder brows appear more natural and the precision of the pigment and its colors can be adjusted by the artist.
Pain is always subjective, but the majority of clients feel next to nothing during this procedure. The sensation has been described as someone ‘scratching at the skin’. The good news is that any sensation seems to diminish as the procedure progresses.
The effect lasts for around 1 – 3 years. As with any permanent make up treatment, the time it lasts can depend on a number of factors, including skin type, your skincare routine and how well you followed the aftercare guidance.
For most patients, the healing period for permanent makeup will take anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks, varying depending on the skin type of the patient, with the patient only needing to continue an aftercare routine for about 10 days following the treatment to ensure that the eyebrows turn out as good as possible
After your Permanent Makeup treatment you may have some slight redness, soreness and swelling, but this is completely normal and will subside within a few hours. Initially your brows are about 50% darker, and through the healing process they will fade and soften.
You may also experience some itching and the skin will feel dry during the first week of healing - again, this is totally normal! You will be given a balm to help soothe the brows, relieve any itchiness and promote healing. Try not to touch or pick at your brows as this can potentially damage the colour and increase the risk of infection. You must allow the dry skin to fall away by itself, and as it does your brow will look patchy - its all part of the process, please be patient and don't judge your brows until they have fully healed!
